Political Education

UVDSA is dedicated to developing local organizers and community members into principled socialists. Our political education program, which hosts a regular reading group and film club, is designed to build camaraderie, grow class consciousness, and serve as a space where our members can work through political challenges they face as tenants and workers.

UVDSA Reading Group is typically held on the second Monday of every month. These meetings are informal and social in nature, and food is always provided. At each gathering, we read and discuss one or more essays as a group. These meetings provide a space where people from a variety of backgrounds and political tendencies come to learn more about political theory, current events, and lessons from the global working class movement that can help us become better socialists in our own community.

To kick off 2024, UVDSA is planning to host regular movie nights on the fourth Monday of each month! Much like our reading group meetings, these gatherings will be informal socials with food provided. We will be viewing and discussing a variety of documentary and narrative films depicting socialist movements around the world.
